Sweets Paradise, Kagoshima

Abundant with fresh foodstuffs, fruits and sugar, Kagoshima residents are so happy that various unique sweets are available here along with ordinary Japanese and western sweets.

Typical sweets are;

1. Shirokuma (literally “white bear”, shaved ice with sweet sauce and abundant fruits)

2. Jumbo Mochi (glutinous rice cake dressed with sweet sauce skewered on two bamboo sticks)

3. Karukan (steamed sweet made of high quality yam)
